Personal Name Websites Vs Brandable Name Websites

In the next week or so I’m actually going to be migrating a lot of my articles over from JoshAlbert.com and doing a little restructuring to this site.  I had been blogging for a while over at JoshAlbert.com, but was always a little hesitant about it.  I mean I don’t have a problem with people knowing who’s writing the articles around here, it’s more an issue of branding my PersonalName.com.

I had been writing mainly running articles over at JoshAlbert.com and really didn’t want the name “Josh Albert” to become synonomous with just running.  I’m a multi-faceted creature as I’m sure many people are and to having myname.com becoming synonomous with one particular thing (running, fitness advice, productivity advice, etc.), made me a little nervous.  I would rather brand a different name and make JoshAlbert.com a portfolio site of sorts outlining my accomplishments and everything that I do.  That way if someone searches me out specifically they’ll at least have the option of choosing between this site or my portfolio site depending on what their looking for.

As an example not to point anyone out, but I saw someone start up an internet marketing site one time, under their personal name, have them totally blow up and get huge and then go off and start a health site and to me it just seemed weird.  I mean here is this savvy internet marketer, that’s all of a sudden an expert in the health industry.  A lot of that issue could have been avoided if they had just used a brandable name of sorts for the internet marketing site.  As a result TheirName.com will always be synonymous with the internet marketing industry and make the barrier to entry for their name into other realms that much tougher.  ***Don’t confuse this with something like twitter though as I feel in most cases it goes a long way to adding a bit of credibility to yourself to use your own name there.

Anyway look forward to some new posts as well as some of my old posts getting posted up here shortly.

Welcome To Cosmic Voyage – My First Post And A Little About This Site

Welcome to Cosmic Voyage.  My name is Josh Albert.  My reason for starting this site is out of frustration of wading through so much misinformation that I wanted to document my findings of how things work and what is optimal for our personal development in health, the mind, the physical body/fitness, business, productivity and the spirit.

There is so much misinformation out there.  People spew off opinions based on what friends of friends told them or what they were taught by their parents, told by their friends, learned through their political affiliation or whatever.  I try to approach every new idea with an open mind.  I have always felt that most people need to do more research before developing opinions.  It is so frustrating to me that even when a lot of people are confronted with an idea that may “knee jerk reaction” come off sounding quite absurd, that they automatically develop an opinion without first gathering some facts.

As a young child I was always the one that asked my parents tons of questions.  I asked my teachers tons of questions.  It was this questioning nature, thirst for knowledge, and need for understanding of why things work the way they do that started very early in life that has led me on sort of a life long journey.  I can remember reading bodybuilding magazines and Mike Mentzer’s Heavy Duty 2 book in High School trying to wade through all the multitude of garbage bodybuilding routines trying to figure out “what really worked?”, “why do people get more muscular”, etc.  Or my reading of Franklin Covey’s Seven Habits book and trying to manage my life through my Franklin Covey planner.  I had an undying need for understanding and development from a young age.

This site represents my personal development journey as much as it represents your journey.  I hope I am able to help you with your journey in some way and that you enjoy the site.

Your Friend,

Josh Albert
